Baby’s First Disney Trip (Tips for an easy day)

You think you know things and then you have a baby… It applies to Disney as well. Disney is an entirely different experience when you’ve got a baby with you. For that, here’s my advice for Baby’s First Disney Trip.

Tips for an Easy Day

Go as hands-free as possible!

I never wanted to be one of those parents that you see struggling to fold up the massive stroller just to fit onto the bus/boat/monorail. The thought of it actually makes me cringe…I’m just one of those people that does better with less hassle, especially when in Disney with hundreds of people surrounding me at any given moment. Just put the baby in a carrier! Problem SOLVED! No hassle, no strangers thinking it’s okay to pinch baby’s cheeks, and  baby is happy from the constant movement. I have this Tula and I LOVE it!

Going along with the need to be as portable and hands free as possible, go ahead and splurge on the backpack diaper bag too. It really makes everything so much more manageable when they’re young and you’re free to enjoy the rides with little to no effort. (i.e. Stroller park MESS!)

Fast Passes are a MUST!

Just because you have a baby doesn’t mean you need to miss out on your favorite roller coaster! Grab your fast passes and take advantage of Disney’s “Baby Swap/Rider Switch” opportunity.

Not to state the obvious, but Disney is a FAMILY resort. They have done a great job of creating rides and experiences that are safe and accessible for everyone. Just because the Little Mermaid doesn’t have any drops doesn’t mean it’s not still a fun experience for the whole family. You’ll also find that those rides may have less of a wait time. So make sure you don’t pass them up just because they’re less thrilling.

Plan appropriately

Not all bathrooms at Disney have baby changing areas in them. Make sure you choose a restroom in a pretty popular area to ensure a changing table is there when you need one. Baby care centers are available at all parks and are also a great temporary escape from the heat or rain.

The weather can change dramatically at times. Remember to dress baby appropriately for all possible weather outcomes. Save some money and bring a poncho from home in case of rain. If the sun is out, be sure to apply NONTOXIC sunscreen frequently. (Seriously, take a look at what I found in my store bought sunscreen. You’ll thank me later.)

*Don’t Forget: Always, Always, Always remember to keep everyone properly hydrated!

Special Events & Fireworks

Whether you’re attending a special event or waiting to see the fireworks show, keep in mind the experience is different for baby than it is for you. No matter the show or event, it’s sure to be fun for all ages but babies don’t always love the effects the way older kids do. Try finding a viewpoint a little further back as to not harm baby’s hearing. For instance, visiting the Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness Campgrounds to watch the fireworks provides an excellent viewpoint just without as much boom behind them.

No matter what, be sure to enjoy the magic!
