Journey to Healthy: Weight-loss and more

If you’ve followed my blog, you know I’ve had my fair share of health issues… Inexplicable rapid weight gain being one of them. Now that I’m finally getting a handle on the mess of ups and downs that’s been my health it’s time I started to focus on losing the weight and getting back to being truly healthy again. This is just the start so be prepared to see installments added here and there… This is my Journey to Healthy: Weight Loss and more.

Weight gain is where it started.

When I first realized something was wrong I had gained 100lbs in 11 months. I thought maybe I had just become a fat/lazy college kid… I know, not the greatest way to think of yourself but that’s where I was. Never mind that I was working out regularly and cutting carbs and sugars completely out of my diet; In my head, it had to be something I was doing wrong. First off, NOPE. Terrible way to think for starters, and the woman I am today wants to go back and smack me and my terrible primary doctor at the time that refused to listen to my symptoms and just tried to push weight-loss pills on me at every visit. Something was wrong. I had a long list of symptoms and was finally diagnosed with Thyroid Disease. Now that I’m getting the hang of living with Thyroid Disease, I’m working harder on taking better care of myself in every aspect.

What I’m doing:

The beginning of my journey is simple, I’ve promised myself that I’m going to be active for at least 1 hour, 6 days a week. I’m not into any kind of hardcore dieting. I’ve watched too many people try and fail so this is just about getting back to back basics. No over thinking it. Just get up and get moving for at LEAST one hour a day. Good place to start, right? Well getting moving is always great but not if you’re eating garbage… so I’m basically just eating fresh, clean foods. You can’t go out in nature and find pop tarts on a tree somewhere so they’re not going into my body any more!

I like simplicity so that’s it. If it’s not real food, I’m not eating it and I’m making sure that I’m up and moving for at least an hour a day.

First month down and I’m down 6lbs!

My promise to myself has gone really well this month and a good number of you have been following along, supporting, and asking for more info on what I’m doing so next week’s installment will focus more on helping you. If there is something specific you’d like to see, let me know!

***I love feedback! Whether you’re looking for help or have suggestions on how I can improve what I’m doing please feel free to leave a comment!
