House Cleaning Hacks

Becoming a homeowner has taken cleaning to a whole new level. We lived in houses before but it’s different when it’s yours… We worked the same hours, only had slightly more square footage but there felt like there was more to clean and less time to do it all. These are some of the house cleaning hacks we’ve come across along the way!

Carpet Spots?

Try baking soda and vinegar. Sprinkle some baking soda on the spot, pour vinegar over it and let it work it’s magic for a few minutes. Add water and sop up with a dry towel.

Needing your carpet to smell a little fresher? Try sprinkling some Downy Unstopables before vacuuming.

Appliances?

Dishwasher:

Sprinkle baking soda on the bottom, add a full cup of vinegar to the lower rack and let it run through a normal cycle.

Microwave:

Fill Angry Mama Microwave Cleaner with vinegar and water and turn on microwave for 7 minutes.

Oven:

Two words: Magic Eraser! You’ll be surprised as to just how much grease/grime a magic eraser can really catch. They really are magic!

Stainless Steel Refrigerator:

Baking soda and vinegar for the win, again! Mix it into a paste and scrub the surface. Wipe clean with a paper towel and no more fingerprints (or nose smears for those of us with pups)

Bathrooms?

All you need is baking soda, peroxide, and some Dawn dish soap to get rid of all soap scum and dingy tile grout.

Chrome faucets not looking bright and shiny? Try scrubbing them with lemon juice!

There’s only one way to keep your bathroom smelling fresh even during the smelliest of times though…Poo Pourri! You’ll thank me later 😉

Kids make a masterpiece on the wall?

Use a few drops of Lemongrass Essential Oil on a paper towel and wipe it away! After the marks are gone, be sure to wipe the wall down with a little water.
