Birchbox Review

Monthly subscription boxes are incredibly trendy right now but are they worth the cost? I tried Birchbox for a year and here’s what I think of it. I’ll share the products I received and go into a full review of the service in this Birchbox Review.

Keep in mind, a review is just an opinion. This is just based off of my personal experience with Birchbox over the last year.

First off, Birchbox has a waitlist. What that means is you subscribe to an email list and in a few weeks when they’ve had a spot open up they will send you an email at which time you can complete your service subscription and choose a payment method. This isn’t my favorite aspect…

Birchbox costs $10/month and can be paid for monthly or prepaid in 3, 6, and 12 month intervals. They are very tailored to keeping their customers happy which is HUGE in my book!

You start your Birchbox service by taking a mini beauty quiz where you tell them your hair and skin type and all of your beauty interests to help tailor your products to meet your needs.

Now let’s talk products

With each Birchbox you receive 5 sample-sized products in an adorable box.

During my subscription, I received a total of 60 products. Unfortunately, several products were of the same variety. This was kind of disappointing because lipstick is by far my most used/obsessed upon product and I don’t recall receiving any… I did however, receive more than enough facial cleansing/exfoliating/moisturizing products.

Birchbox almost always sent me products from brands I had never even heard of. They were all good quality products and several were from high-end brands but isn’t the point of the initial quiz to ensure SOME familiarity with the products you’re receiving…?

Conclusion:

Birchbox is a good monthly subscription if you’re looking for a variety of sample-sized products to try. It will definitely open your eyes to at least one brand you’re not familiar with!! The company is geared towards keeping the customer happy and the products (while often repetitive) are good quality products!
